Greetings from Menorca - As you may still be snowed in at home, we thought this would be a good day to send you our latest news. We have new staff and a new boat for 2018 and our Sense 57 is taking part in the ARC 2018, sailing from Menorca to St Lucia.
This is the last year we will be able to send you our annual news unless you give us your permission. Therefore if you would like to receive news from us once a year please email: firstname.lastname@example.org leaving the word 'subscribe' in the title or message.
As part of the Hairy Bikers Mediterranean Adventure, which aired last month on BBC2, Dave Myers and Si King chartered our Beneteau Sense 57, with skippers Geoff and David to give them a hand. They sailed from Ciutadella to Mallorca and cooked some fish in Xoriguer gin and tonic batter on the way. It was an opportunity to get to know the cooks who were exactly like they come across on the TV. They loved the chance to go sailing (being rusty Day Skippers) and promised they would be back in the future for more tuition.
Why not charter this boat with a skipper this year? It is ideal for 3 couples, with three double cabins all with ensuites. With shared costs it is no more than chartering 2 smaller boats. For example in June it is just 2663 Euros per couple for the boat plus 584 Euros per couple for the skipper. Hallelujah is also available for Day Sails with a skipper.
Yes,you will be able to spot a whale in Mahon harbour this year, in the shape of our classic Menorquin yacht called ORCA. These motor yachts, built in Menorca, are the only way to circumnavigate the island like a wealthy local. Adored by the Spanish and Italians for cruising, they come in a range of sizes but ours is the biggest and the best you can buy at 18 meters with a Flybridge. Charter it for a day with a skipper, hostess, aperitifs and lunch for that special occasion.
- from Menorca to Gibraltar, Gran Canaria, Cape Verde and St Lucia
Hallelujah, has wowed everybody with her high level of luxury as well as being a very quick sailing boat. Our delivery trip from Mallorca in 10 knts true wind saw a regular speed of 8 knts, very impressive for a boat of this size. We are now getting her ready for the trip of a lifetime, as she takes part in the ARC 2018. You can join in on the delivery trip to Gran Canaria via Gibraltar or sail down to Cape Verde before she crosses the Atlantic.
The passages are from 1500 Euros per person including food. Please email us if you are interested in more details.
Frangipani our Beneteau Oceeanis 48 is having a bit of a facelift this year with new bimini and spray hood. Always a popular boat, these additions will enhance her already beautiful lines and make her stand out in the picturesque anchorages. Last year, Stand Up and Flow, a travel company based in Illinois, USA,chartered Frangipani as part of their tour of Spain and had a fantastic day on the water.
It's like a Tardis inside!
A late addition to our fleet last year was Las Sirenas, a Farr designed Bavaria 36 Avant Garde. This is a beautiful and and easy to sail charter boat. She has a comprehensive electronics pack, electric winch, electric toilet and a very ergonomic layout we are very proud to have her on our Menorca Cruising fleet. Las Sirenas is only 36' long, plus the swimming platform, but on the inside you feel like you are on board a 40' yacht.
Last season we added Roxanne, a new Cobra Rib to our powerboat fleet. She can be rented by the day or the week, with or without skipper. If you have never driven a rib before we can offer you training on board, with an RYA instructor. We also have Alora our Ribeye 785 with brand new tubes and Squidge a smaller Medline 6m rib for daily or weekly charter.
Andrew Hutton had another busy year as our Number 1 Cruising Instructor and we are so happy that he has now become a full time member of staff. Not only does he run our Day Skipper and Competent Crew courses to the highest standards but he also works tirelessly through the winter to fettle all our boats and keep them in tip top condition. Liane continues to be in charge of guardianage and boat preparation and now also applies her meticulous standards to the check-in process, when she introduces the charter skippers to their boats. Laly took some time off last year to have her baby, Lucas, and she will return again this year to help us prepare the charter boats.
In 2017 we took on Borja and he did a fantastic job on painting and polishing the boats pre season and providing support for our charter boats throughout the year.
This year we are pleased to welcome Belén to the team, who will be familiar to many of you. Belén has worked for several years in the office of Marina Mahon next door and she will be bringing some new order to our administration.
We hope to see you again this year, and don't forget to ask for your customer discount.
Liz and John, Andy, Laly, Lianne, Belén and Borja
